Subsidence Contamination Drainage Reporting Laboratory
Subsidence Contamination Drainage Reporting Laboratory

Insurance related subsidence surveys; investigating typical issues such as: defective drainage, tree root ingress, dessicated clays, shallow foundations and poor or unsuitable foundation design.
Subsidence Investigation

Our site investigations include:

Hand excavated fully logged trial pits and hand augered      boreholes carried out to meet your specific requirements.

On site shear vane and macintosh probe testing, to aid      accurate ground condition analysis.

Window sampling.

Restricted access rotary drilling (useful for heave      calculation and datum installation)

A fully comprehensive in-house laboratory, able to      provide many services including moisture content, soil      suction, atterberg limit, soil contamination and triaxial      testing.

A team of experienced geologists focused on providing      both factual reports and interpretive written reports.

Typical Issues:

Defective drainage
Tree roots
Dessicated clays
Shallow Foundations

Contamination Survey

With the requirement for development in urban areas, there is a growing interest in 'brownfield' or industrial sites. Fastrack™ Site Investigations Limited perform detailed investigations of contaminated soil and groundwater by:

Desk Studies
 Establishing sources, pathways and receptors
Trail pits, boreholes and long term monitoring
Chemical testing (e.g. heavy metals and organics)
Design of remedial measures

Drainage Repairs

Drains may crack due to ground movement, subsidence, tree root ingress or they may totally collapse. The result is a defective drain causing repeat blockages or leaks into the surrrounding soil.
Whatever the problem, the most appropriate solution can be determined by Fastrack™ CCTV Surveying Service. This will detect the nature of any structural fault, which will lead to recommending the most appropriate repair technique.

Excavation

Replace short sections of pipe at a shallow depth
A collapsed or structurally defective pipe which cannot be      repaired using NO-Dig techniques

Lining

 Minimal cost
 Minimal disruption and inconvenience
Suitable for all types and sizes of pipe 75mm diameter      upwards

Technical Reporting

FGS have a dedicated report writing team, allowing quality and uniformity to be kept. Fastrack™ Site Investigations Limited aim to provide reports within 10 days of receiving the samples into the lab.

Desk Studies

Information is gained from borehole record, ordance survey maps, geological maps, historical maps, mining searches and local authority searches. Desk studies are an invaluable way of identifying past site use and recommending an appropriate investigation technique.

Geotechnical Reporting

Details resultant construction practices, eg. where foundations should be located.

Interpretive Reporting

Evaluate hazards and ground condition, recommend foundation design, recommend remedial measures and propose subsidence rectification/ stabilization.

Factual Reporting

Site plans, trial pit and borehole logs, soil classification, CCTV surveys and laboratory results.

New Build Investigation

An essential perquisite of any civil engineering or building project is a detailed and accurate assessment of ground conditions. Fastrack™ Site Investigations has the capability to undertake any size project however large or small. The company's extensive field, laboratory and engineering services in the South East, Midlands and the South West ensure that investigations are cost effective and always completed to the project deadline.

Typical Issues:

Brownfield development
 Building on made ground
 Hydro geological influences
Industrial mining activities

Laboratory Testing

The Fastrack™ Laboratory is an in house facility located at our head office. Staffed with trained and experienced technicians, all testing is in accordance with the appropriate current soils testing standards.

A thorough laboratory testing programme is an essential part of any geotechnical investigation, soil testing plays a major part in the design and planning of construction projects, earthworks design, foundation design, slope studies and subsidence or heave of building and structures.

Fastrack™ can also provide laboratory analysis as a stand alone service with a courier collection and a rapid turnaround.

Laboratory Analysis:

Moisture content
 Atterberg limits
 PSD particle size distribution
Soil suction (filter paper method)
Concrete testing
SO4 soluble sulphate
pH testing
Triaxial testing
